Hello

I'm trying to set up a forum on a DNN website ... I wanted it to be viewed by everyone but only registered members to post.  I've tried all the settings and can't seem to get them right.  The forum is there but I can't set it so that people can post, any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

Any help greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hi Lorraine,

What forum module are you using? The native DNN one or a 3rd party module?

If you are using the DNN forum, make sure you go into the Module Settings, and make sure Registered Users have 'Edit Module' permissions.

Hello

Thanks for the reply, I'm not really sure  what sort of forum I have .... its the one that came with the webpage ... I just added a module and it added the forum.

I can tick a little box to change the 'permissions' but it only has ... view page and edit page ..

am I looking in the wrong place??

thanks

Yes wrong spot, you're looking at the page settings, not the module settings. Usually to the left or right of the module title (the forum module you added to the page), there will be a little dropdown menu. On that menu you should see an option named 'Settings' which are the module settings. Click on that and in there you should see similar permissions to the page settings you saw earlier, only these ones should say View Module, Edit Module, Forum Admin, Global Moderator etc. Just check the Edit Module checkbox beside the 'Registered Users' role to give anyone who has signed up to your site (Registered Users) the rights to add a new topic to the forums.
