Hi all, I am using the aggregator as a company bulletin board with each tab representing a department. It is located on the home page. All tabs are a basic announcement module. Each department has its own page within the site and all have an events module on its separate page. I was wondering if it is possible to create a "clickable" event on the tab that would change the content of the events module to reflect the events listings for that particular department. This way, a user looking for basic announcements and calendar info would not have to leave the home page to see this info. I'm not sure if I am asking for modules that are capable of linking to one another or a more sophisticated calendaring module. But regardless, the tab that is aggregated would have to get the ball rolling because that is where the user will click. One thing I don't want to do is make the user leave the home page to see this basic info. An example can be found at www.wcsmiami.org Any help or direction would be appreciated, even if it means paying for a custom solution. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, I'm still a little fuzzy about what you want to do but it sounds like you might need to use a module capable of Intermodule events. Can you explain what you want with specific reference to the site you mentioned as an example. That will help us visualize it better.

Hi Richard, On the home page of the www.wcsmiami.org site, you can click on the bulletin board tab for a particular department and it will reference another page that is descriptive of the tab you clicked on. So, if I click High School, the url references that page and changes the content of the news and events section to note info specific to that tab. But to the end user, it looks like they never left the home page but only clicked on a tab that changed the info of the announcements module, news module, & events module. I understand how they do this and how they create the effect of looking like you never leave the home page. But it starts with a clickable event. This site is using a CMS based off of the Liferay portal which calls modules, portlets. I am trying to find out how to duplicate this in DNN. Your aggregator gave me hope because it was easy to create the bulletin board but I can't, or don't know how, to create the effect of changing the page or content of an existing events module on the home page when a tab is clicked within the aggregator. I understand a little bit about IMC and module shadowing, but these do not help me to duplicate what's on this site. I am still coming back to the tab actually starting a chain of events when the end user clicks on one of the tabs in the aggregator. Hope my communication is not frustrating you. My value is in end user experience and information management. I am not a programmer and this may limit my ability to explain this or to realize a solution is right under my nose. Thanks, Paul

I think I finally know what I'm trying to say! I wrap 4 announcement modules within the aggregator and it presents them in a tabbed view. As I click each tab(module), I want the click to do more than just present the module and its content. I would like for it (the click on the tab) to be able to call other modules from within the site from other pages, such as an events module and display that information on my page. If this can be done with what is available as core to DNN, along with the aggregator, please advise. If not, can this be a custom development module that I can pay for?

Ok, I see what you're after now. This functionality doesn't exist currently within Aggregator. You would need to have some custom work done. Specifically, we'd need to modify the Aggregator to send some Intermodule Communication commands to the other modules on the page. Then those modules would need to take that message and determine what to show. I don't think the events module currently accepts IMC commands so you'd most likely need that module customized too or a new module based on the events module that performs the way you need it to. If you'd like to proceed with this, contact me through support at dnnstuff.com and we'll draw up a proper spec and plan of action.
